Hybrid inverters are the most common type of inverters. They are designed to convert DC, from solar panels and/or batteries, to AC to power your load. They also charge your batteries via the mains power and also power your load via the mains power when your load is higher that your solar output. Hybrid inverters are also designed to provide excess power back to the grid when there is excess power available. Note, not all hybrid inverters are certified to send power to the grid.
